West Park Albania brings to life ‘Colors of the Western Balkans’
West Park Albania, became the meeting point for Western Balkans artists, who gathered in the city of Korça to explore the role of art in preserving cultural heritage and fostering regional cooperation. Twenty artists from Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia brought to life the theme “Colors of the Western Balkans”, transforming West Park into an outdoor environment for painting sessions and the creation of a monumental group artwork that commemorates the collective spirit.
During the days of the colony, the artists followed a structured program that included outdoor painting sessions at West Park, group workshops, and joint discussions on artistic techniques and regional themes. They worked on individual pieces during the mornings, while afternoons were dedicated to developing the large collective artwork under the curator’s guidance. The program also included a visit to cultural sites in Korça and a presentation of each artist’s work, creating a clear rhythm of collaboration, exchange, and production throughout the residency.
Curator Prof. Asoc. Dr. Mikel Temo described the collaborative spirit with a single reflection: “This year, the artists transformed diversity into dialogue, proving once again that creativity is one of the strongest bridges in our region.”
The initiative was further inspired by the mission of the Western Balkans Fund, which continues to support regional cooperation and cultural exchange.
The final exhibition brought together the collective artwork and the individual pieces created during the residency, forming a vibrant visual mosaic of the Western Balkans a region where culture, color, and collaboration meet. By supporting initiatives like this, West Park Albania, as part of BALFIN Group, continues to champion these shared values.
